F1 caller faces termination over "abhorrent" Schumacher comment

Lobato, perhaps in an attempt at humour in the moment, shot back, "Let Michael be shaking! Well... not Michael, he cannot shake." Following this exchange, the pundits shared a laugh with their colleagues, Noemi de Miguel, Pedro de la Rosa, and Toni Cuquerella. The incident provoked a strong backlash from viewers, with many demanding that Lobato apologise to Michael Schumacher's family. Some even called for his removal from DAZN, the broadcasting platform. One individual on X (formerly Twitter) remarked, "An apology would be the minimum, a sign of decency. You don't disrespect ANYONE that way, especially when thousands of people are watching you. Journalism in Spain has a very bright present and future with people like this." Another comment read, "Using someone's medical condition as the punchline of a joke is unacceptable and abhorrent. Michael is beloved and respected in this sport, and [Lobato] doesn't deserve the platform he is given." Subsequently, Lobato released an apology video on X, which has since garnered over five million views. In the five-minute video, he attempted to explain the "accident" while justifying his actions. Lobato stated in Spanish, "I made a mistake without any bad intentions. It was simply a mistake of pure clumsiness, of pure inability to express myself correctly, maybe because of too many hours up, jet lag in Madrid, or whatever – which is not an excuse for those of you who didn't see it." He went on to clarify that he never intended to make a joke or mock Michael Schumacher and that anyone who knew him would understand this. Lobato acknowledged his error, saying, "I think that everyone who knows me and knows what I'm like knows perfectly well that I would never make a joke about something like that. Never, but I was clumsy." He admitted that he had realised his mistake instantly after making the comment. Mick Jagger's daughter arrested

The daughter of the Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has been arrested in Spain following a hostile altercation with police. Jade Jagger, 51, has being accused of going on a drunken tirade and allegedly assaulting several national police officers in Ibiza, Spain, according to reports by <a href="https://pagesix.com/2023/05/18/mick-jaggers-daughter-jade-arrested-for-assaulting-police-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Page Six</a>. The reports claim that Jagger became "very aggressive and violent" when police were called to help mediate an altercation she was involved in at a restaurant. Jade and one of her friends involved in the confrontation were reportedly under the influence of alcohol or "some type of substance". Before the police were called, the British jewellery designer had a disagreement with restaurant staff, while her male companion began allegedly “shouting, threatening and insulting” them. The police then arrived at the restaurant to defuse the situation, where Jade's friend "pounced" on the officers, while Jade was allegedly heard shouting “stupid police” and other rude remarks. It is unclear if Jade remains in police custody, but a local Spanish outlet states she is expected to be “brought to justice” at some point on Friday. Jade is one of Mick’s eight children. She is his only child with ex-wife Bianca Jagger. Michael Schumacher’s family is preparing to take legal action against German tabloid magazine Die Aktuelle, for publishing an AI-generated “interview” with the star. The publication has been slammed for using Michael’s face on their April 15 front cover, promoting the piece as “the first interview” since the star’s skiing accident in December 2013. “No meagre, nebulous half-sentences from friends. But answers from him! By Michael Schumacher, 54!” read the text in the magazine. “It sounded deceptively real,” they added in the strapline, which was the only indicator that the piece was fake. The “interview” included quotes that insensitively described Schumacher’s recovery, following the accident where he suffered a serious brain injury. “I was so badly injured that I lay for months in a kind of artificial coma, because otherwise my body couldn’t have dealt with it all,” the quote read. “I’ve had a tough time but the hospital team has managed to bring me back to my family,” they added. It was only at the end of the article that the publication revealed that they used Character.ai, an AI chatbot, to create the interview. A spokesperson for Schumachers confirmed their intention to take legal action against Die Aktuelle to Reuters and ESPN. This isn’t the first time Schumacher’s family have taken action against Die Aktuelle. Eddie Jordan, former F1 boss and friend of the Schumachers, has opened up about how Corinna Schumacher has lived “like a prisoner” since her husband’s 2013 ski accident. Corinna, who has been declared “Michael’s guardian angel” on more than one occasion, has been battling for an entire decade to uphold his wish for privacy when it comes to his health and his ongoing recovery. It is reported that Corinna handles the Schumacher family’s affairs, and it’s a rare occasion when she does speak about her husband and family, despite overwhelming interest in how Michael is doing - all while helping son Mick launch his own career in Formula 1. And now, Eddie Jordan - who was a key player in Michael’s 1991 F1 experience - has spoken up about the reality of Corinna’s situation, admitting in an interview with The Sun Online that she is living “like a prisoner”. "This was the most horrific situation for Mick and Corinna," he said. “It's been nearly ten years now and Corinna has not been able to go to a party, to lunch or this or that, she's like a prisoner because everyone would want to talk to her about Michael when she doesn't need reminding of it every minute." He confessed that Corinna once denied him a visit with his friend, as she had imposed a kind of “family only” rule when it came to seeing Michael after the 2013 incident. Eddie wasn’t offended, instead supporting her decision, aware that the rule had come from a place of love, and that he knows her “very well, and a long time before Michael Schumacher.” However, there is apparently one individual who is allowed to stop by - Jean Todt, F1 chief and former boss for Ferrari. "She's a lovely girl,” he continued, “and I knew her when she married Michael so there is a long history of good relations. "I made an effort to go see Michael in the early days and Corinna refused, and rightfully so because too many people wanted to go see him. "Jean Todt was given the privilege to go see him because of how close they were from their time together at Ferrari which is completely understandable. "I was not able to go see Michael and they said 'we love you Eddie and we've been involved with you for a very long time, but we do need privacy and safeguard of Michael'." This isn’t the first time that Eddie has spoken out about his friends, having explained early in 2023 that the 54-year-old Michael was “there, but not there.” And Corinna has revealed something similar herself, as seen in the documentary Schumacher, where she said, “I miss Michael every day. But it's not just me who misses him. "It's the children, the family, his father, everyone around him. "I mean, everybody misses Michael, but Michael is here. Different, but he's here and that gives us strength … we try to carry on a family as Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives. “'Private is private', as he always said. Formula 1 icon Eddie Jordan has shared a health update about his close friend Michael Schumacher, saying the motorsport legend is “there, but not there” as mystery continues to surround his health. Schumacher, 54, has not been seen or heard from for nearly ten years after his horror ski crash in 2013. He was left with a severe brain injury and in a medically induced coma. Mystery surrounds his condition as his family has imposed a strict “family only” rule on who can visit him. It came as Michael’s son Mick followed in his dad’s footsteps into F1. Unfortunately, 23-year-old Mick struggled and lost his race seat at the end of 2022 after a series of crashes for the Haas team. Eddie was denied a visit to see Michael but has been in contact with Mick. The F1 star said his “love” for the seven-time world champion “still lasts and will always do so while I’m able to draw breath.” when speaking to sports betting firm OLBG. Last year, he revealed his son Mick had reached out to him. “As far as I’m concerned, I was touched by it and the reason I was touched by it was because it can’t be easy knowing that your father is not able to be part of the family, he’s there but he’s not there,” Jordan said. Jordan revealed that Mick spoke highly of his father while he was enduring his own struggles in F1. “It touched me because I felt so much about Michael, I went out of my way to find him, give him his first chance in Spa, didn’t last very long but that love for him still lasts and will always do so while I’m able to draw breaths,” Eddie said. Mick was dropped by Haas in favour of veteran driver Nico Hulkenberg for 2023 and is now a reserve driver at Mercedes. Mick will be backing up Sir Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, potentially stepping in for them if they have to miss a race. Eddie believes Mick has it in him to find his way back into a full-time race seat. “He’s been dropped for somebody else, and that’s a tough decision, he has another fight to come back and to make his name, climb up that ladder again,” Eddie said. “I’m quite sure he will do it.” Jordan also revealed Michael named his son after racing champion Mick Doohan, saying Mick was given his name “as a mark of respect” to Doohan. “Mick Schumacher isn’t named after his dad like a lot of people seem to think,” he said. “Mick Schumacher is named after a person who his father, Michael, was in total awe of, a sportsman who had won five world titles back to back with Honda. “And that is no other than Mick Doohan. “As a mark of respect, Michael Schumacher called his son Mick.” Last year, Jordan revealed that Michael’s wife denied him permission to visit Schumacher after his horror skiing accident. His wife Corinna keeps his health journey a closely guarded secret. Corinna prefers to treat her husband privately at their home in Geneva, Switzerland, with ex-Ferrarri boss Jean Todt, one of the only people allowed to see him outside his immediate family. Jordan said he contacted Corinna, who was once the girlfriend of his team’s driver Heinz Harold Frentzen. The back-to-back Formula 1 world champion is currently preparing to secure a third straight crown for Red Bull in 2023. Before the season begins, F1 fans are being treated to a sneak peek behind the curtain as Netflix’s smash hit Drive to Survive releases its fifth season. Verstappen is heavily featured throughout episode four of the new season, which was released globally on February 24, focusing primarily on former Haas driver Mick Schumacher. The episode, titled Like Father, Like Son?, brings to light the struggles the famous young racer endured before he was let go by the Haas team. However, it's Verstappen who once again steals the show as he shares what it was like to grow up alongside the Schumacher family. Max’s father, Jos, was teammates with Michael at Benetton, with an old interview filmed in the 2000s showing the pair being asked if they would let their kids become F1 drivers. “I think this could be the first time we have an argument if our two would be racing,” says the German. It’s what came next that stole the hearts of many, leaving F1 fans stunned. As Max talks about the relationship between the two families, a clip of Max as a toddler interacting with Michael is played before a never been seen photo flashes on the screen. “We used to go on holidays when we were little together, the two families, and these kind of memories will stay with me,” explains Max, who is now a 35-time race winner in F1. “For both of us to be in F1 is amazing and also for Michael, he’s a very proud dad for sure.” The image shows Michael sitting on a hanging chair with baby Max on one knee and his daughter, Gina-Maria, on the other. Michael Schumacher's family have been accused of lying about the F1 star’s condition following a scary brain injury incident. The F1 champion’s health has been closely monitored following a terrifying skiing accident at a French resort of Meribel in December 2013. His wife and family have been keeping his condition under wraps as he recovers at their home in Switzerland. However, Schumacher's former manager Willi Weber, 80, has accused the family of preventing him from visiting and speaking to the star since the incident. Weber has spoken to Schumacher's wife Corinna and close friend Jean Todt who repeatedly told him that “it’s too early” and to just “wait”. “I tried hundreds of times to contact Corinna and she didn't answer," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I called Jean Todt to ask him if I should go to the hospital and he told me to wait – it's too early. "I called the next day and no one answered. I didn't expect behaviour like that and I'm still angry about it. They kept me out, telling me it's too early, well now it's too late. It's been nine years. Maybe they should just say it the way it is. "I could understand the situation initially as I always did everything I could for Michael to protect his private life. But since then we have only heard lies from them." Sir Mick Jagger has slammed the comparison between the veteran rocker and pop superstar Harry Styles. Harry, a former member of One Direction whose solo career has seem him rise to the top of international music charts, has often been likened to The Rolling Stones frontman for their similar look and stage presence. While the 78-year-old rockstar can see the likeness in their looks, Jagger believes this is where their similarities end. Jagger told Sunday Times Culture magazine, “I like Harry — we have an easy relationship." “I mean, I used to wear a lot more eye make-up than him. Come on, I was much more androgynous. And he doesn’t have a voice like mine or move on stage like me; he just has a superficial resemblance to my younger self, which is fine — he can’t help that.” Harry Styles has long noted his love of The Rolling Stones, once calling Mick Jagger "the coolest man on the planet", and even impersonated Mick Jagger on 2017 episode of Saturday Night Live. Surfing legend Mick Fanning braved dangerous floodwaters to assist a pharmacist to open her shop and provide residents with their much-needed medication. Forty-year-old Fanning didn’t think twice when Skye Swift – one half of local pharmacy outfit Varella and Swift – put a call out on Facebook for a ride from Tweed into Murwillumbah, in northern NSW, to help hand out medicine to members of the community. Corinna Schumacher has listed the renowned 20,000 square-metre farmhouse on the market for £5 million ($AU9 million), according to German magazine Bunte. The Schumachers bought the "Sur le Moulin" estate in 2002 for £3 million, and not long after Michael would go on to win his fifth F1 world title. The Schumacher family have reportedly left the home mostly vacant, and are moving to another home in Gland where Michael can continue his rehabilitation. The Lake Geneva house has been described as "an exceptional property in a quiet and protected location". “After the Schumachers moved, the house was left without permanent residents," reported Bunte. "At times, their housekeepers and bodyguards stayed there. Corinna Schumacher’s horses also grazed on a two-acre site some time ago.” Schumacher faced horrifying head injuries in a skiing accident in the Swiss Alps in 2013, and his current condition remains a mystery to the public. While most information is not available, Schumacher’s former boss at Ferrari revealed he’s had opportunities to visit the former driver. Jean Todt says the Formula One legend has been able to follow son Mick's career as he follows in his dad’s footsteps. “Of course he is following him,” Todt told RTL France. The seven-time world champion has been in a medically-induced coma since 2013, after he suffered a devastating brain injury during a French Alps skiing accident. The 52-year-old’s condition has been kept majorly private by his family, and since the accident over 7 years ago, only a handful of people have been given the opportunity to visit him. However in the new documentary, Schumacher, fans will be able to see the recovering star. The documentary includes private recordings the German star’s family have provided. Interviews with Schumacher’s wife Corinna, their son Mick, daughter Gina-Marie and father Rolf are all expected to be featured in the film. Former Ferrari boss Ross Brawn has exposed the truth about claims Michael Schumacher was a “despicable, horrible character”. The man who was by the German driver’s side during his seven F1 world titles said Schumacher was a very different person when off the track. The legendary racer was known to be a ruthless driver on the track, which swayed public opinion. The 51-year-old was accused of driving “dangerously” as he needed to win no matter what, but Brawn said Schumacher changed people’s opinions once they met him away from the track. “I don’t know if he quite enjoyed the impression he created because he was quite an intimidating character in many ways,” Brawn told Sky’s new docu-series Race to Perfection. “But if you knew him personally he was quite the opposite, very engaging, very personal. “So many times I introduced him to people who, before they met him, thought he was a despicable, horrible character and you introduce them, and once they got to know him they completely changed. “I had that happen so many times because there was Michael the racing driver out on the track and there was Michael the human being away from the track.” Brawn says whoever had the chance to get to know Schumacher on a personal level thought the world of him. “I don’t know of anyone who worked with Michael who had a bad word to say about him,” Brawn said. “Lots of people who raced against him had a different opinion but nobody I know who ever worked with Michael ever had a bad opinion about him because of his integrity, his commitment, his human side. “He was a very strong team member of any team he was part of and it’s a tragedy what’s happened but he’s a lovely human being.”
